French ‘Good Samaritan’ is accused of vile betrayal after he allegedly RAPED a woman who fell inside a Melbourne night club

Shocking new details have emerged about a French man accused of sexually assaulting a woman he pretended to help.

Adam Berguiga, 22, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being extradited from Sydney on Monday.

Police allege the man was partying at a nightclub in the CBD on New Year’s Eve when he saw a woman fall on the dance floor and began helping her outside, where he sexually assaulted her.

In court documents released Wednesday, Berguiga allegedly raped the woman multiple times in a violent street attack.

Berguiga is alleged to have escorted the woman out of the venue and onto Corrs Lane in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The path runs between Little Bourke and Lonsdale streets.

Court documents allege Berguiga brutally attacked the woman, leaving her with bruises on her left shoulder and head and scrapes down to her knees.

Berguiga also allegedly kissed the woman during the alleged sexual assault.

Adam Berguiga charged with multiple counts of rape and related assault and driving offenses

Police allege that Berguiga entered the city by car even though he did not have a driver’s license.

French has not made any application for bail and will remain in custody until his next hearing in April.

The court stated that Berguiga did not speak a word of English and had never been behind bars before.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Berguiga at 9.30pm on Saturday, three days after the alleged attack.

CCTV footage and composite images were released in the hope that someone might recognize the suspect.

Berguiga’s claim that he was trying to leave the country was quickly recognized by the authorities.

He was arrested at Sydney’s international airport terminal at noon on Sunday and brought back to Victoria to face justice.

The court heard he would be given access to a mental health professional while behind bars and would be ‘vulnerable’ in prison.
