Chief Justice Dhiraj Calls Constitution A Guide To Democracy

Vijayawada: Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, described the Indian Constitution as a guide to democracy and a “tower of light” for the judiciary.
The chief justice hoisted the national flag to mark the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the high court premises on Monday.
Addressing the legal fraternity, he said that as the Indian Constitution came into force on Jan. 26 in 1950, India had evolved as democratic country and the Constitution acted as a guiding light. He claimed that democracy would give every citizen the right to “enjoy justice, freedom and equality.”
He noted that the government is making efforts to overcome poverty and social discrimination by launching various welfare programs and developing new programs in education, skill development and women empowerment.
Speaker Ayyannaparudu underlined that public representatives should try to increase respect for the legislature. He called on every employee to ensure that the fruits of development and prosperity reach the intended beneficiaries.
Koyye Moshenu Raju, chairman of the legislative council, stated that the Constitution provides for the right to live in freedom and peace. He praised Dr BR Ambedkar, who wrote the Constitution.
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said that the Constitution of India is the largest written constitution in the world, its authors have provided all provisions to provide equal opportunities to all citizens and aim to end social and economic inequalities. He said that the AP government is making plans for Swarna Andhra 2047 and urged the government machinery to act together to achieve the goals.
