Karnataka Budget 2026-27 LIVE updates: Karnataka will ban social media for children under 16, says CM Siddaramaiah

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said ₹200 crore has been allocated for the development of seven domestic airports in the state this year. He said ₹ 1,593 crore grants have been given so far for the development of seven airports. He also said that the second airport for Bengaluru will be developed and the feasibility report will be prepared after taking technical advice from the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

“A second airport will be developed in Bengaluru to decongest the Kempegowda International Airport, which has emerged as the third largest airport in the country, and a feasibility report will be prepared for the same after taking technical advice from the Airports Authority of India (AAI),” the Prime Minister said.

He also announced that a flight training school will be set up at Vijaypura and Shivamogga airports respectively and aircraft units will be manufactured and assembled in PPP mode.

Shivamogga Airport, which was opened in February 2023, was developed on 775 acres of land in Sogane village near Shivamogga. The airport operates flights to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa and Tirupati. Work continues for the night extraction facility.

An aviation joint facility center will be set up at KIADB Aerospace Park in Bengaluru with a total project cost of ₹30 crore. An amount of ₹10 crore has been allocated for this purpose in the current financial year. An aviation park will be developed by KIADB adjacent to Mysuru airport to support the growth of aviation industries in Mysore.
