Fury as Turning Point builds tent replica of where Charlie Kirk was assassinated so fans can take SELFIES

Turning Point USA sparked outrage among devoted Charlie Kirk fans after setting up a replica of the tent in which he was assassinated as a photo opportunity at his final rally.
The 31-year-old conservative activist and TPUSA founder was shot and killed while arguing with students at Utah Valley University in September.
His widow, Erika, kept TPUSA active in his honor, garnering mass support within the MAGA movement, upper echelons of the Trump administration, and Kirk’s massive fan base.
But his decision to erect a near-replica of the assassination to use as a backdrop for photos at this weekend’s TPUSA event in Phoenix has sparked questions among Kirk fans, spurred by his former friend Candace Owens, who has gone to war with the organization in the months since his death.
‘Recreate the tent that Charlie died under to take a selfie? Really?’ He wrote to X.
‘It was like a session. I actually want to know whose idea it was.’
Viral photos and videos from the event show a stream of people posing inside a tent with a backdrop similar to the one Kirk sat in front of on the day of the assassination.
Two posters were hung; one features a photo of Kirk during a debate, the other a photo of him on stage.
The decision to erect a replica of the assassination to be used as a backdrop for photos at this weekend’s TPUSA event in Phoenix has raised questions among Kirk fans.
The criticism was encouraged by his former friend Candace Owens, who went to war with the organization in the months after his death.
Owens’ criticism came just days after he and Erika met in person, following months of hostile comments on social media promoting conspiracy theories about Kirk’s death.
Both publicly praised the meeting as a success, but Owens has since returned to his standard style of questioning key details about Kirk’s death and its aftermath.
But he wasn’t the only one to criticize TPUSA for the memorial tent, though the decision sparked mass outrage online.
“The recreational photography of the murder scene was nothing short of sadistic,” another reviewer wrote.
“They recreated the tent where Charlie Kirk was assassinated for people to take selfies in… These people are disgusting and crazy,” added a third.
‘I’m not kidding, they built a replica of the tent where Charlie was shot at at AmericaFest so people could take pictures. ‘Maybe we should also make replicas of the Twin Towers or the Auschwitz ovens?’
However, Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet denied that they did such a thing.
‘It wasn’t the tent where Charlie was assassinated. “We’ve done a lot of them for tour and this was a completely different tent,” he told The Daily Mail.
Erika Kirk announced at the event that TPUSA will support Kirk’s friend, Vice President J.D. Vance, for president in 2028
TPUSA denied the tent was a replica and insisted it was erected in Kirk’s memory.
‘We set up the tent in memory of Charlie, who lost his life fighting for freedom of expression and debate. One of the themes of the conference is “be brave and take your own microphone.” This is a shameless attack on young people inspired by Charlie’s life and courage.’
In the closing remarks of the conference, Kirk’s close friend, Vice President J.D. Vance, took the stage and made a presentation of sorts to conservative voters ahead of the 2028 elections.
He refused to condemn extremism or define a limit for the MAGA movement, arguing that it should be open to everyone as long as they ‘love America.’
‘I did not bring a list of conservatives to condemn or deplatform.’
Erika pledged Turning Point’s support to Vance to become the next Republican presidential nominee.
On the first night of the meeting, she said, ‘We will ensure that my husband’s friend, J.D. Vance, is elected to the 48th in the most resounding way possible.’ If Vance takes office after Trump, he will be the 48th president.
Turning Point is a major force on the right, with a huge network of volunteers across the country who can help, especially in early-Kerial states.
But Owens set out to discredit the organization with a series of incendiary videos that cast doubt on the suspect accused of killing Kirk and criticized how TPUSA was run in the wake of his death.
Kirk was assassinated while arguing with students at Utah Valley University on September 10.
He frequently visited schools and drew large crowds to discuss conservative values with students.
The political commentator was a leading speaker and communications director for TPUSA; until they parted ways in 2020 due to disagreements over their views going down ‘rabbit holes’.
Insiders revealed to the Daily Mail last week that Erika took a private plane from her home in Arizona to meet Owens at a secret location in Nashville and discuss Owens’ concerns.
The meeting, which lasted about five hours, was described as ‘productive’ with the hope that the two had buried the hatchet.
