Fury erupts over illegal migrants gambling taxpayer money | Politics | News

Anger reported that asylum seekers use the money of taxpayers to pay for gambling. According to the request for freedom of information by Politicshome, the home office launched an investigation after trying more than 6,500 transactions online and last year after trying on sites such as casinos, slot machine marbles and national lottery retailers.

Shadow Interior Minister Chris Philp said: “This Labor Party Government allows the illegal immigrants to gamble by using the challenging money of taxpayers. This madness should be over.” “Illegal immigrants living in asylum hotels used payment cards financed by the taxpayer to try to gamble six and a half times. This is my money, your money, the money of taxpayers.”

Online payments were blocked each time, in some other cases, cash withdrawals were made in gambling venues or near the terminal.

When asylum seekers come to the UK, they are given a chip and pin bank card called aspen card, which aims to provide weekly support to buy foundations such as food, clothing and bath materials.

For people who are hosted in hotels providing food, the allowance is £ 9.95 per week and the allowance for their own accommodation areas is usually 49.18 per week.

Cards were financed by the taxpayer and there are about 80,000 users in the UK.

The data showed the summit of attempts to use cards to gamble in a week last November.

At the lowest point, there were 40 initiatives to use cards to gamble in a week last July.

An Interior Ministry spokesman said: “The Ministry of Interior launched an investigation into the use of Aspen cards.

“The Ministry of the Interior has a legal obligation to support asylum seekers, including the poor.”
