Fury in Ibiza as locals launch sunbed war against tourists on beaches | World | News

The locals in Ibiza took action due to disappointment against local beach clubs and luxury villas. The inhabitants were disappointed about the use of local beaches, accusing the owners of villas and beach clubs of using without the permission of local authorities. When it comes to tourism in the Spanish regions, the disappointment among the locals is growing in recent years with protests against extreme stages in places such as Barcelona and Mayanta.
The tensions in a region of Ibiza stem from the use of a small bay in which some of the indigenous enterprises claim that they use it without permission from local councils. They accused of luxury developments scattered around the beaches such as Cala Espart, such as a small bay and beach on the southeastern coast of Ibiza, and tried to “privatize” without permission to introduce the sun loungers.
Cala Espart is a public beach directed by the coastal authority. Therefore, private enterprises will need to obtain special permission to use the beach for business operations.
The locals reported events similar to Cala Espart’s, and some took action against them. In June, a local, nearby luxury developments and another natural beach on the coast of Ibiza Cala Molí placed on the sun loungers and umbrellas on themselves.
The sun loungers and umbrellas were deployed to visitors in the region by a local business that rented luxury houses. The locals reported that these installations took place early in the morning and that they stayed in place all day.
A local Spanish broadcast Nou Diari told Nou Diari that someone had evacuated this equipment from a minibus and was on the beach. However, a local businessman, El Silencio Ibiza Operations Director Román argued that the business was subject to weekly checks by the council officials.
He also argued that no one earns money from the sun loungers placed on the beach. Since then, the person who founded beach equipment in Cala Molí has been an employee hired by a wealthy family in the region.
Román said that instead of rented for profit, the family was used for his own pleasure. According to the Sant Josep Municipal Assembly, no complaints were received by the owners of private villas about the establishment of beach equipment.
