Attempts to create religious conflict over lighting lamp atop Thirupparankundram failed, says Minister Sekarbabu

Hindu Religious and Charity Minister (HR & CE) PK Sekarbabu on Saturday said that attempts were made to create a conflict situation between the two religions due to lighting of a lamp on the Thirupparankundram hill in Madurai, but these attempts did not yield results.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Mr. Sekarbabu said the Tamil Nadu government respected the court orders and functioned according to the law. “The aim of the state government is to prevent caste and religious conflicts. Court decisions in 1920, 1930, 1996, 2014 and 2017 confirmed that: Karthigai Deepam “Only the place that has been illuminated for more than 100 years needs to be illuminated,” he said.
“Peace is the spiritual path, sanatan. Some believe that they can create undesirable situations in Tamil Nadu for political purposes. This is the land where Ramanuja lived, a land that belongs to everyone. Under the rule of Prime Minister MK Stalin, separatist forces will never take root. Such forces will be suppressed with an iron hand. “The state government will take consecutive legal steps and ensure the rule of law,” he said.
Mr. Sekarbabu alleged that the AIADMK took its position as per the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and abandoned its principles. “In 2014 and 2017, the then AIADMK government submitted an affidavit to the court that lighting of the lamp at an alternative location in Thirupparankundram was not allowed. Now they are saying that the State government should allow lighting of the lamp at another location. This is hypocrisy. They have surrendered their principles to the BJP,” he added.
