Gary Wilkinson: Search for 50-year-old man as Perth Hills residents urged to stay vigilant

Police are hoping “even the smallest bit of information” could lead them to a missing man believed to have wandered into bushland east of Perth.

Gary Wilkinson, 50, was last seen by his family leaving the Walpole Street address in St James on March 31 in a black Toyota HiLux with WA registration 1HUE349.

As of Tuesday morning, a week after he went missing, neither Mr Wilkinson nor his vehicle had been located.

Cannington Police Constable Tara Brown said police had information suggesting the Hilux was in the Mundaring, Childlow and Kalamunda areas.

“Even the smallest piece of information can be important,” said Senator Sergeant Brown.

“Anyone in the Kalamunda Mundaring and Chidlow areas should remain alert and aware, particularly around mountain bike trails, surrounding woodland, local roads or parkland, and report anything they think might help locate Mr Wilkinson.

“We would like the public to be careful, alert and check any CCTV dashcams or recorded footage that may capture Gary or his vehicle moving in or around these locations.

“His family are really worried, especially considering they haven’t contacted him for several days.

At this stage police are treating the matter as a welfare matter. “There is no information to suggest any suspicious circumstances and our focus remains on locating Gary and ensuring he is safe and well.”

Senator Sgt. Mr Brown said Mr Wilkinson had a keen interest in mountain biking but it was not known whether he had a bike with him.

Anyone with information or who sees Mr Wilkinson or his vehicle is asked to contact police immediately on 131 444.
