Gas Leak At ONGC Well In Andhra’s Konaseema Triggers Fire; No Casualties

Mori (Andhra Pradesh): A gas pipeline leak at a well in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district, operated by ONGC’s production contractor Deep Industries Ltd, caught fire on Monday.
An official from the Maharatna company said that according to preliminary information, there were no reports of deaths or injuries.
Following the gas leak and subsequent fire, senior officials of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Rajahmundry rushed to Mori village, where the fire broke out in the Mori-5 well, the official said.
“The fire occurred due to gas pipeline leakage at Mori-5 well operated by Deep Industries Ltd as part of its production development operations,” the official told PTI.
He said ONGC officials reached the spot to assess the situation and analyze the cause of the incident.
Konaseema district administration is also involved in the incident and is coordinating firefighting and safety measures in the region.
Deep Industries Ltd is a Production Development Contractor (PEC) of ONGC and as per reports, it has been awarded a Rs 1,402 crore contract in 2024 for ONGC’s production development operations at Rajahmundry Asset in Andhra Pradesh.
The official added that the company has been operating the Mori-5 well for about a year.
