What we know so far
Emergency services are dealing with an incident in Gateshead. A large police cordon is in place near the junction with Shipcote Terrace, along a footpath off Old Durham Road and a nearby woodland area. Several police vehicles, including a car and a minibus, were seen at the scene. Police officers remain in the area, protecting the cordoned area and searching the forest area. Northumbria Police have been contacted for comment. The North East Ambulance Service said it was called to an incident at the junction of Old Durham Road and Split Crow Road shortly after 3.45pm on January 20 and a clinical team leader and a double ambulance were dispatched. No further details regarding the nature of the incident have been confirmed at this stage.
