Flights cancelled as Ekka-like winds buffet south-east Queensland; Ex-Brisbane Lions sponsor goes bust, leaving 200 workers in limbo
Only four years ago, a logistics company, Brisbane Lions’ major sponsor entered the voluntary administration and was at risk of approximately 200 jobs throughout the country.
Archerfield -based XL Express, south of Brisbane, brought FTI consultancy to act as an administrator last week to determine the best way for the company’s creditors.

An employee who does not want to take names, XL Express staff wanted answers, but the company was met with silence, he said.
“Tuesday [last week]I got a message from the company that there will be no service on Wednesday and that we would return to work on Thursday, but unfortunately it didn’t happen. ”
“In the afternoon of Wednesday, we received a message from our boss that the company declared bankruptcy and then wished good luck in our new initiatives.
“We were all silent.”
