Heathrow airport disruption continues after weekend cyber attack
Only a handful of flights from Heathrow were postponed or canceled on Monday due to a weekend deduction caused by a cyber attack on the working week.
Heathrow, Brussels and Berlin Airports, have experienced all delays and disruptions on Saturday after the attack affecting Collins Aerospace, which provides automatic check-in services for several airports at multiple airports.
Problems started on Friday night and continued throughout Saturday, the affected airlines had to cancel or delay as they had to realize the check-in and boarding operations manually.
On Sunday, a few departure programs from London Heathrow Terminal 4 took place up to two hours – and on Monday, the deterioration continued.
From the deterioration of the departures, 11.30 Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt was canceled, while Frankfurt was 10.30 Lufthansa flight and Brussels 13:00 Brussels Airlines flight were both delayed.
More than 50 arrival and departure were canceled at the Brussels Airport. Berlin and Dublin continue to see the deterioration.
In his statement on Monday morning, Heathrow said: “Work continues to be solved and recovered from the interruption of a Collins Aviation airline system affecting Check-in. We apologize to those who face delays, but the majority of the flights continued to work.
