Narrow escape for tourists as bus catches fire during safari at Nahargarh biological park in Jaipur

“A group of 15 tourists narrowly escaped when the bus they were traveling in caught fire during a safari in the Nahargarh Biological Park in Jaipur,” officials said in a statement on Monday, December 8, 2025.
According to the statement of park officials, all tourists quickly got out of the vehicle when smoke was detected.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, December 7, 2025, when the bus entered the forest area of the park and suddenly smoke began to fill the vehicle. After the driver and staff notified the control room via wireless communication, the Ministry of Forestry team arrived to evacuate the tourists and ensure their safety.
The bus continued to emit smoke and eventually caught fire. While the flames were extinguished with the intervention of the fire brigade, the vehicle became completely unusable. “Initial investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit,” an official said.
“There were no injuries to tourists or damage to wildlife. The destroyed bus was sent for technical inspection,” he added.
Spread over an area of 720 hectares, Nahargarh Biological Park is located under the Aravalli mountain range on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway, about 12 km from Jaipur. It is part of the Nahargarh sanctuary and is known for its rich flora and fauna.
