A high-level delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development visited the office of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in Bengaluru on December 2 to take a look at its inclusive mobility efforts. Among the visitors were officials from the German embassy and GIZ (German International Cooperation Agency).
The team experienced Dhwani Spandana-OnBoard, an assistive voice navigation system that improves bus accessibility for visually impaired passengers.
KSRTC General Manager Ekrem Pasha gave information to the visitors and drew attention to the national award of the project. Developed by the Elevated Lines Foundation and scaled up with GIZ under the Green Urban Mobility Innovation initiative, the system is currently used in KSRTC and Mysuru city buses.
The German delegation, led by Managing Director Christine Toetzke, praised KSRTC’s leadership in adopting innovative and user-oriented transportation technologies.
