Iran says latest US strikes have ‘rendered futile’ recent diplomacy

Tehran: Iran has condemned the latest wave of US attacks on its territory, saying they have left all diplomatic efforts in the last few months “idle”.

The statement came on the heels of the US military announcing a new wave of attacks on Iran on Sunday, saying it was aimed at “continuing to humiliate” Tehran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

“These barbaric attacks are not only a grave violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, but also a serious threat to international peace and security,” Iran’s foreign ministry said in a statement. The statement was included.

The statement said that “they have frustrated all efforts made in the last few months to reduce tensions and establish peace in the West Asian region.”
Tehran said, “The US regime has openly intervened in Iran’s process of implementing the necessary regulations in the Strait of Hormuz, causing the return of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and the disruption of international commercial shipping.”
The latest US salvo began at 21:00 GMT on Sunday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on channel X, adding that President Donald Trump “directed the strikes to hold Iranian forces accountable”.
