SCR Announces 16 Sankranti Special Trains Between Secunderabad, Vikarabad and Srikakulam Road

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has announced that 16 additional Sankranti special trains will be operational to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic during the festive season. The campaigns will connect Secunderabad, Vikarabad and Srikakulam Road on selected dates in January 2026, providing relief to commuters heading to Telangana and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Private services will operate on Secunderabad – Srikakulam Road and Srikakulam Road – Secunderabad routes under train numbers 07288, 07289, 07290, 07291, 07292 and 07293. These trains will operate overnight from late December 2025 and arrive at their destinations the next day, covering peak Sankranti travel dates in early and mid-January. 2026.
Additionally, SCR will operate special trains between Vikarabad and Srikakulam Road (07294/07295) to serve festive passengers from interior Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
According to the schedule, train number 07288 Secunderabad-Srikakulam Road will depart at 19.00 and will reach Srikakulam Road at 12.30 the next day. Train No. 07289, the return service, will depart from Srikakulam Road at 3.30 pm and arrive at Secunderabad at 8.10 am the next morning on the notified dates of January 2026. Other special trains in this corridor will follow similar night operating patterns and provide additional berthing facilities for long-distance passengers.
Secunderabad-Srikakulam Road services will stop in both directions at important stations like Charlapalli, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Rayanapadu, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Anaparthi, Samalkot, Annavaram, Tuni, Yelamanchili, Anakapalli, Duvvada, Pendurti, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram and Chipurupalli.
Vikarabad-Srikakulam Road special services will operate via Lingampalli, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Charlapalli, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Rayanapadu and Eluru and then continue in coastal Andhra with similar stops.
SCR has encouraged passengers traveling towards the north coast of Andhra Pradesh during Sankranti to use these special trains instead of overcrowded regular services. Passengers are advised to check detailed schedules, stoppages and operating dates on the SCR website, NTES or railway information counters and book tickets well in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.
