Girl, 7, found dead in bushes after ‘horror rape’ | World | News

It was claimed that a seven-year-old girl was raped and killed in Odisha, India, and her body was hidden in the bushes. Police said a 24-year-old man from the same village was arrested.

The girl went missing on March 9 while staying at her uncle’s house in Dudi village in Rajgangpur block of Maldihi Panchayat. His father worked in Chennai and he lived with relatives to attend school. After desperate searches failed, his family reported his disappearance to the Rajgangpur police. Officers detained several people, including local resident Michael Kindo.

Police said Kindo tried to escape during questioning, prompting officers to chase him and take him into custody. During the interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that he lured the girl to a secluded place, sexually assaulted her and strangled her when she cried.

Taking action on the suspect’s confession, the police team headed by Sundargarh SP Amritpal Kaur rushed to the scene.

The police removed the child’s body from under a large stone. It was then sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death before being handed over to the family.

Confirming the development, Additional IIC of Rajgangpur Police Station Anil Kumar Samal told reporters that the accused has been taken into custody and produced before the court.

Authorities confirmed that Kindo is in custody and will face charges.

While the case caused anger and sadness in the society, local people demanded justice as soon as possible.

Police increased patrols in the area and assured citizens that the investigation would continue thoroughly.
