Gita Gopinath, IMF’s First Deputy Managing Director, to step down in August

In a statement on Monday, the IMF said Gitinath, the number 2 official of the International Monetary Fund, will leave his post to return to Harvard University at the end of August.

IMF, IMF General Manager Kristalina Georgieva, Gopinath’ın “timely” will call the successor, he said.

In 2019, Gopinath joined the Fund as the first woman to work in this role and was promoted to the role of the first assistant general manager in January 2022.
