Glock faces speculation about discontinuing most pistol models amid legal pressures

The allegations reportedly stemmed from a post by GlockStore, a major firearms retailer. The post stated that as of November 30, 2025, all Glock models except the three named models will be discontinued and replaced with a new series of “V Models”.
Glock has not released any official confirmation of a comprehensive discontinuation of any models or the introduction of “V Models.” The company’s website lists some older models as discontinued, but there is no reference to the sweeping changes reported online.

Absent a direct press release or statement from Glock or its parent company, the allegations will remain unsubstantiated. The manufacturer did not respond to requests for comment regarding the speculation as of October 21, 2025.
California legislation targets easily replaceable Glock pistols
The timing of the discontinuation rumors coincides with increasing legal pressure on Glock. On October 12, 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1127, which bans the sale of Glock models that can be easily replaced using “Glock keys”, effective July 1, 2026.
Glock switches are illegal devices that convert semi-automatic pistols to fully automatic firing. The California legislation specifically targets firearms that have adopted these changes without significant technical difficulty.
Multiple cities file lawsuit against Glock over conversion concerns
Lawsuits in Chicago and Seattle accused Glock of creating public safety risks by producing firearms that could easily be converted to automatic fire. Legal cases allege that design features make illegal modifications accessible to unauthorized users. Glock did not comment on any connection between the regulatory environment and the alleged product changes. Industry observers believe regulatory pressures and rumored design changes are linked.
Reported “V Models” will feature anti-transformation design
Circulating reports indicate that the “V Models” will feature internal modifications that make conversion to automatic fire impossible or significantly more difficult. The redesigned pistols will reportedly replace all current models except the 43, 43X and 48X.
Reported additional features include no Modular Optical System variants at launch and pricing unchanged from existing models. No technical specifications, parts compatibility details or design schematics have been released.
The model name “V Models” is not approved by Glock. Claimed anti-conversion features have not been detailed or verified.

Potential changes could impact consumers and law enforcement
If true, the changes would represent a significant overhaul in Glock’s commercial history. The discontinuation will impact consumers, retailers and law enforcement agencies who rely on current Glock models.
Potential impacts include increased demand for existing models before any deadline, disruptions to aftermarket parts and accessories markets, and possible increases in value of discontinued models in collector markets. Law enforcement may need to adjust purchasing, training and inventory systems.
Firearms industry watches response to regulatory crackdown
The firearms industry is observing how manufacturers respond to legal and regulatory pressures regarding gun modifications. If Glock redesigns its products in response to regulatory threats, that decision could impact other manufacturers’ approaches to design, compliance and public scrutiny.
Gun owners and dealers should follow Glock’s official channels for verified information. Any transition may impact ownership rights, aftermarket compatibility and resale value of existing models.
The speculation highlights ongoing debates about firearm design, illegal modifications, and manufacturer responsibility in preventing unauthorized gun modifications.
