Google looks likely to lose appeal against record $4.7 billion EU fine

Google The consultant of the European Union’s upper court advised the technology giant to reject the objection against the antitröst fine of 4.1 billion-EURO ($ 4.7 billion).
Juliane Kokott, the general lawyer of the European Court of Justice, advised the court to appeal Google to the court and approve the fine of 4.34 billion euros to 4,125 billion euros by the EU General Court in 2022.
“According to today’s opinion, lawyer General Kokott suggested that the Court of Justice of the Justice of Google rejects Google’s appeal and therefore protecting the decision of the general court.” He said.
The fine is related to a long -standing antitröst case surrounding Google’s Android operating system.
In 2018, the European Commission slapped Google with a record -breaking penalty on the grounds that Android exploited the mobile domination of Android to provide unfair advantages to its applications through pre -installation measures with smartphone manufacturers. The Commission is the EU’s executive body.
Google was not suitable for commenting immediately when it was contacted by CNBC on Thursday. The company had previously called the courts to invalidate the EU fine on the basis of Android’s “not less, but created more options for everyone”.
Although the lawyer General’s proposal is not binding, judges tend to follow four of five non -binding views. ECJ is expected to make a final decision in the coming months.
