Maryland man collects his second big lottery prize eight years later
January 2 (UPI) — A Maryland man who won a $250,000 prize on a scratch-off lottery ticket returned to lottery headquarters eight years later to claim the $50,000 Powerball prize.
The Prince George’s County man who nicknamed himself the “50,000 Dollar Man” He told Maryland Lottery officials He bought his Powerball ticket for the Oct. 18 drawing at Exxon at 6500 Suitland Road in Morningside.
He visited lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Friday to collect a $50,000 prize from matching four white balls in the drawing.
“I would have been a little happier if I had matched one more number, but it’s still a big prize,” the federal employee said.
The winner, who previously won $250,000 from a scratch ticket in 2018, said he was shocked to discover he had scored big for the second time.
“I found out I won by scanning the ticket in the app,” he said. “When I saw $50,000, I had to double-check the numbers. I didn’t believe it.”
The winner said his previous prize went towards a new car and boosted his savings. He said he didn’t have any plans yet for his last chance.
