Goondas Act invoked on economic offenders for the first time in Tamil Nadu

In order to combat economic crimes, the Economic Crimes Wing (EOW) began to detain economic criminals under the Gondas law.

Police General Manager (DGP) Shankar Jiwal, the action was expected to serve potential criminals as a strong deterrent.

In the light of the increasing incidence of financial fraud in Tami Nadu, the government enabled Eow to detain economic criminals in accordance with the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Gondas Law with an order dated July 8th.

Eow, Dindigul Unit, Sree Nesha Company – C. Senthilkumar, his wife Jeyanthi and relative Sakthivel’in found a lawsuit against the founders. It is claimed that the company defrauded investors by promising two grams of gold mine and 2.5% interest rate for 180 days in 5 Lakh investments. 180 days later, they promised to return the money deposited. They also claimed that the money collected through Sree Nesha Niruvanam would be used for the training and medical treatment of the planned tribes. However, investors did not get their money back.

Following this, Eow arrested Senthilkumar and Jeyanthi in the deception. On July 16, they were arrested with judicial custody and took part in Madurai Central Prison.

Police Inspector, Eow, after the suggestions of the Southern Region Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan, Senthilkumar’ı issued an order to detain.
