Government Accelerates Compassionate Appointments in Power Sector

: The coalition government is expediting compassionate appointments in the power sector to support families of deceased employees, energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said on Friday.

At the program held at AP Secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati, the Minister along with Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand distributed appointment letters to the family members of employees killed in accidents related to the power sector.

Ravi Kumar said that since the formation of the coalition government, around 500 eligible candidates have been provided employment under the compassionate appointment scheme. He said the government was now making appointments based on educational qualifications, including Assistant Engineer positions, instead of restricting candidates to assistant roles.

The Minister said that the Prime Minister has approved age relaxation to accommodate both senior and junior candidates from affected families. Compassionate appointment drives will be conducted every three months to provide timely assistance, he added. Training is also being provided to staff at the Center of Excellence in Visakhapatnam.

Vijayanand reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare and safety of employees and emphasized the need for continuous skills development.

MLAs Ashok Reddy and Narayana Reddy, APCPDCL CMD Pulla Reddy, APGENCO executives and senior officials attended the programme.
