Government okays 22 proposals under electronics components manufacturing scheme

The Ministry of Electronics and IT on Friday, January 2, 2026 said that it has approved 22 new proposals under the Electronic Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) with projected investment of INR 41.863 billion and production of INR 2,58.152 billion.
The approved bids include bids from Dixon, Samsung Display Noida Pvt Ltd, Foxconn (Yuzhan Technology India Pvt Ltd) and Hindalco Industries.
These approvals are expected to stimulate 33,791 direct employment opportunities.
In continuation of the previously announced approval of 24 applications for investment of ₹12,704 crore, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 22 more proposals with projected investment of ₹41,863 crore and projected production under ECMS.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw distributed the approval letters to the players on Friday, January 2, 2026.
According to the background note published by the Ministry regarding the third tranche of approval, approval; It covers the manufacturing of 11 target segment products with cross-industry applications such as mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive and IT hardware.
The approved projects are spread across eight states, including Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, reflecting the government’s focus on geographically balanced industrial growth and expansion of electronics manufacturing across the country.
5 out of 11 products are bare components such as PCBs, Capacitors, Connectors, Housings and Li-ion Cells; 3 relates to sub-assemblies such as Camera Modules, Display Modules and Optical Transceivers; and 3 are supply chain elements such as Aluminum Extrusion, Anode Material and Laminate.
The approvals are aimed at significantly strengthening local supply chains, reducing import dependence for critical electronic components and supporting the growth of high-value manufacturing capabilities in India, the background note said.
