Uttarakhand’s House of Himalayas board clears key proposals at sixth meeting

General Secretary Bardhan said more and more cluster-level federations and self-help groups should be added to the House of Himalayas. He underlined the further strengthening of cluster-level federations and self-help groups. He directed that payments for the products of CLFs and self-help groups should be prioritized and made at the earliest.
He focused on GI labeling and organic certification studies, emphasizing the importance of GI labeling and organic certification to protect the quality of the products. He also talked about preparing a mechanism to determine the MRP of products.
Chief secretary Bardhan also instructed the House of Himalayas to expand its warehouse and storage capacity. He said that the House of Himalayas should have warehouses in Garhwal and Kumaon as well as a major warehouse center in the national capital Delhi and NCR. He asked the authorities if necessary steps should be taken for this.
Chief Secretary Bardhan also spoke about the recent signing of an MoU with the Aromatic Herbal Center and Doon Silk Federation for raw materials and products. He emphasized the importance of setting up sales points for House of Himalayas products in Unity Malls built in different states, besides increasing the number of sales points in airports and metro stations. He said that sales points should be given product sales targets. He added that incentives should be provided to sales points that perform well, so that other sales point personnel should also be motivated.
Former Chief Secretary Shri Indu Kumar Pandey, former LBSNAA Director Shri Rajiv Chopra, Secretary Shri Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Additional Secretary Shri Himanshu Khurana and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
