Govt. Committed to Public Welfare, Healthy Telangana: Ponnam

Hyderabad: Minister of Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar said the State government is committed to public welfare and remains the overriding goal of its vision of a healthy Telangana.

Prabhakar, who is also the Hyderabad Minister-in-charge, inaugurated the newly established library, Indira Mahila Shakti canteen and an e-waste collection center at Masab Tank, Chacha Nehru Park, on Friday as part of the Hyderabad District Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika 99-day action plan.

On the occasion, the Minister distributed interest-free loan checks worth Rs. 35 crore Self Help Group for Women. He also interacted with members of women’s groups and reiterated the government’s commitment towards the welfare of women.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister stated that the Praja Palana government under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has implemented development programs covering villages, districts and urban areas up to the state capital for 99 days.

He said that the program was launched at Chacha Nehru Park as per the instructions of the Prime Minister. As part of the Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika 99-day programme, the initiative is being implemented in nearly 12,000 villages, districts and municipalities across the state.

The Minister called on citizens not to keep unused electronic items such as old televisions, refrigerators, computers and laptops in their homes, on the grounds that they are useless and may harm the environment. He advised residents to bring such items to the e-waste collection center for proper recycling.

He stated that the library, established on an area of ​​​​approximately 1,500 square meters in Chacha Nehru Park, will be of great benefit to the people of the region. The arrangement of a special facility for book donations was also appreciated.

The Minister observed that the number of women Self Help Groups in urban areas was relatively less and encouraged more women to join such groups. Stating that the free bus travel scheme has made a historical impact, he pointed out the various social assistance initiatives implemented by the government for women.

He also reminded that the government distributed 200 free electricity, quality rice and ration cards on behalf of women. He stated that the buses affiliated with RTC were operated by IKP and Women’s Assistance Groups and that women became the owners of these buses.

The Minister advised women to take advantage of interest-free loans provided by the state and expand their livelihood opportunities. He also reported that special programs have been implemented to improve self-employment opportunities through SETWIN and sewing machines have been provided to eligible women.

The minister called on women to actively participate in the government’s 99-day action program and play a key role in its successful implementation. He called on citizens, public representatives and officials of relevant departments to participate in initiatives related to education, health, environmental protection and sanitation.

The Minister expressed his hope that women will be successful in all fields and reach higher positions in society.
