Grand Haven Township murder-suicide 911 dispatch audio released after arson

A Michigan mother of six had just returned from the trip of a lifetime in which her recently unemployed husband killed the entire family and then himself, and authorities say newly released 911 audio captures the hell he left behind.

Six children and two adults were found dead at a home in Grand Haven County on Friday after crews responded to a house fire, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said. Eight people were injured by bullets, turning the case into a suspicious death investigation.

Authorities identified the adults Monday as Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, and Amanda Karolkiewicz, 39. Authorities did not name the children but said they were four boys, ages 15, 12, 11 and 5, and two girls, both 11 years old. Two of the children were adopted.

The sheriff’s office identified father and husband Kristopher Karolkiewicz as the suspect in the murder-suicide.

Amanda Karolkiewicz, who passed by Mandy, returned to Michigan from a lifelong trip to China with her two adopted daughters just days before the murder-suicide.

The mother described it as one of the “funniest and coolest” experiences of her life.

In her last TikTok post, Mandy wrote on July 17: “So ready to be home sweet home!”

Mandy’s TikTok told the story of a family who seemed to have it all. Disney is in Shanghai. Cobblestone streets abroad. Lazy afternoons by the pool. A beach photo of her and her husband with their arms around each other. And all six of the children appear again and again in the daily moments most parents live for.

But a Reddit account belonging to Mandy shows that their marriage isn’t as perfect as it seems.

In a post from 2024, Mandy wrote about marital infidelity.

“He was divorced and older than me… fast forward ten years and five kids, he was cheating again with the intern – I was the same age as the intern,” she allegedly wrote.

“After hating myself for nearly a year, I remember crying, looking at myself in the mirror, and realizing that I was the one living so miserably because of what he had done,” she allegedly wrote.

The couple had been married for 17 years and were found dead with their children in their Grand Haven home.

Kristopher Karolkiewicz worked for the American Heart Association until July 2026, when his employment ended, according to a spokesperson for the organization.

“The American Heart Association is aware that one of its former employees was among those who died under tragic circumstances at a home in western Michigan last week. Kristopher Karolkiewicz was an employee of the American Heart Association from September 2023 until the beginning of this month, when his employment ended in July 2026,” the spokesperson said. he said. “During his time with our organization, he served as national vice president of sales and marketing, supporting the Heart Association’s division responsible for CPR and first aid training and products.”

“The cause and origin of the residence fire remains under investigation by Michigan State Police arson investigators. However, initial indications are that the fire was intentionally set in multiple locations within the residence. The family’s pets also perished due to the fire/smoke,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. he said.

The Grand Haven Fire Department first responded between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday to reports that people could smell smoke in that area, but firefighters were unable to locate the fire.

Dispatch audio obtained by Fox News Digital showed the home was “filled with smoke” visible through the windows.

Just before 11:45 a.m., authorities responded to the 14900 block of Riverside Trail after receiving reports of white smoke coming from a home there.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said there are no other suspects.
