North Shore Classical Academy establishes Turning Point USA chapter

A Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter is being created at NorthShore Classical Academy (NCA) before the school opens.
“We’re confirming that Turning Point USA is an American club. It’s a high school club. And we confirmed in March that we wanted to be a part of that movement. And we’re not even open yet,” NCA President Cheryle Rebholz told Fox News Digital.
NCA will open in September 2026.

“You have to apply and then go through the application process and they review you. And I wanted to restore excellence, rigor and educate our young adults in high school because of their strong civic values and strong philosophies,” Rebholz said. he said. He continued, “There is a pent-up demand and need for the first private classical Hillsdale high school in our community. It has four pathways that include college readiness, career technical education, military civilian leadership and entrepreneurship.”
Rebholz’s announcement followed a dispute between another Hillsdale-affiliated school and a student who wanted to start a TPUSA chapter.
Lake Country Classical Academy, a K-12 school affiliated with Hillsdale College, rejected the TPUSA chapter, prompting former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and a Turning Point USA staff member to speak out.
Following negative developments in the TPUSA division, LCCA is developing a similar club.
“We have made clear our commitment to Hillsdale’s model and curriculum,” LCCA Principal Margaret Hagedorn told Fox News Digital on Tuesday.
Hagedorn said the LCCA is creating a civics club instead of the TPUSA chapter. Since its founding, the LCCA has not approved student clubs affiliated with foreign political or religious organizations. This policy is reflected in Hillsdale’s guidance and Family Handbook, which “refer to extracurricular clubs as ‘enrichment classes’.”

“After good discussions with TPUSA, we decided to create a school-sanctioned Citizenship Club that would encourage civic practices for students and complement the hard work we do here within the school’s own policies,” he said.

National Landmark Action Director Brett Galaszewski condemned the LCCA shortly after learning that the TPUSA chapter had not been approved.
Galaszewski applauded the NCA for creating a TPUSA chapter and claimed that “it was a very simple thing.”

Hillsdale Curriculum High Schools differ from being a Hillsdale College Member School because these schools are more closely affiliated with Hillsdale College. Hillsdale College Member Schools receive curriculum, advising, and training from the Hillsdale Office of K-12 Education.
Walker, an honorary member of the LCCA board, shared Galaszewski’s post about X and said the TPUSA chapter should be approved.

Clubs set up tables on the high school campus to promote TPUSA and typically bring in conservative speakers once per semester.
“We’re happy to come on board and offer this option to our students when they come to school and can organize themselves. Then we use this club as a support club for the strong civics that Hillsdale Academy, Hillsdale College, provides us with,” Rebholz said.
“They’ll bring in local, state and federal candidates who are running for office and are currently in office. They’ll be helpful. Have mock elections so they know what partisan office is and what non-partisanship is, and eventually, when they graduate, they’ll register to vote and be great citizens,” Rebholz added.
