Griffiths all in on Glory job

Griffiths left no room for doubt when asked if he would like the full-time head coaching role at Glory.

“Of course I do. What am I doing on this planet other than coaching football?” Griffiths told Paramount.

“Being a player is the best job, even better as a coach.”

Former Wales international Tom Lawrence scored Glory’s first goal in the 66th minute, his quick attack and square ball earning Nicholas Pennington an easy strike.

Charbel Shamoon sealed the deal with a shot from outside the penalty area in the 88th minute, his first goal in the A League.

Glory allowed Macarthur to have just three shots on target throughout the entire match, while Perth had a total of 15 shots, five of which found the target.

Their first clean sheet of the season was a welcome sight for Griffiths, but he is confident there is plenty of room for improvement.

“Thanks to the players, they’re executing everything we’ve put together. I love them,” Griffiths said.

“We’re working on Konabas. We’re making sure we smother teams. We’re trying to dominate the ball. So all the good stuff is fun.

“This team has a lot of growing to do, so we’re not even close.”

Adam Taggart and Lawrence combining to give Macarthur all sorts of headaches was another big plus for Glory.

Griffiths predicts the duo’s combination will only get better, a frightening thought for Perth’s rivals.

“I don’t believe they’re even anywhere close to where they could go,” Griffiths said.

“They’re not even in flow yet. Once they start flying and merging, I think we’ll be a really dangerous team.”
