Monster who raped woman at gunpoint jailed for 22 years | UK | News

A dangerous predator who threatened a woman with an imitation firearm before raping her in a Stockport park has been jailed for 22 years. Usama Al-Sari, 27, of Moorton Avenue, Manchester, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Friday after admitting charges of rape, sexual assault, intent to commit a sexual offence, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to create fear of violence, threatening to kill and possession of a class B controlled drug.
He will serve 14 years in prison and then be released on license for another eight years. Al-Sari will also be subject to an indefinite restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The horrific attack took place at Heaton Mersey Park on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Al-Sari approached the woman, brandished what appeared to be a gun and forced her to accompany him, then raped her in the park. He then escaped and reached safety.
Public support was vital: Passersby helped the victim immediately after the incident, and additional calls from the public helped police officers locate and arrest Al-Sari within an hour of the initial report. It was confirmed that the seized imitation firearm was unusable.
Following the sentencing, the victim said: “I would like to thank the police for their care, professionalism and protection-focused approach. Being supported and treated with dignity has made a huge difference and I hope this case encourages all agencies to consider how they support victims of serious violence.”
Detective Constable Heather Parke, the officer in the case, said: “Following this sentence, I hope this outcome will provide reassurance to the victim and our wider community. I would like to congratulate the victim for her bravery during this investigation. “Coming forward and reporting this incident ensured our officers could see the offender receive justice and the victim could receive the right support.
“This is a shocking and extremely rare incident and will have an immeasurable impact on the victim. We understand that this incident is extremely worrying and I would like to reassure our communities that such incidents are treated with the highest priority.”
“Our commitment is to protect victims, provide appropriate care and support and pursue justice, and we encourage all victims to come forward and report.”
