The National Economic Survey 2025-26 shows that India has entered a strong economic recovery phase, with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rising to 7.4 per cent from 6.5 per cent in 2024-25.
Presenting a detailed comparison of national and State level trends at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, State Planning Department Principal Secretary Piyush Kumar said India’s medium-term growth potential remains around 7%, supported by controlled inflation, strong investment and banking sector stability.
In the April-December 2025 period, retail inflation was at 1.7%, the lowest level of the last decade. While agriculture, industry and services recorded growth rates of 3.1 percent, 7.0 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively, exports exceeded 825 billion dollars. Infrastructure expansion and improving innovation rankings further strengthened the outlook.
Focusing on Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Secretary stated that the State ranks 8th in India in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GSDP).
For 2025-26, Andhra Pradesh’s GSDP is estimated at ₹ 17.62 lakh crore, reflecting a growth of 10.75%, significantly above the national average.
At constant prices, the State recorded a growth of 9.88%. On a sector basis, agriculture and related activities increased by 10.14 percent, industry by 9.15 percent and services by 10.67 percent.
The state’s per capita income increased by 10.43% to ₹2.94 lakh.
Agricultural production showed significant increases, with higher production of rice, corn and fish, while the construction sector also led industrial growth. However, the presentation highlighted concerns over fiscal indicators, including a revenue deficit of ₹60,481 billion and a fiscal deficit of ₹85,269 billion, Government debt at 35% of GDP, and a relatively low own-income ratio.
The government closely monitors departmental and district performance through KPIs.
He added that under “Swarna Andhra Vision 2030”, Andhra Pradesh is targeting 15% annual growth, GDP of ₹ 31 lakh crore and per capita income of ₹ 5.15 lakh, strengthening its long-term development roadmap.
