GST reforms: Royal Enfield calls for uniform 18 per cent rate on two wheelers — ‘India already leads…’

Royal Enfield, a medium -sized two -wheel manufacturer owned by Eicher Motors, called on a uniform GST ratio on Saturday, August 30, 2025, including high -capacity bikes, according to a social media broadcast in LinkedIn.

According to multiple media report, the reviewed GST structure will be able to reduce the tax on smaller capacity bikes to 18%, while a higher capacity will attract a higher GST ratio.

According to A PTI In the report, the existing norms in India require 28% GST, along with a compensation of 1 to 22%, depending on the type of vehicle.

A uniform gst ratio?

Siddhartha Lal, President of Eicher Motors, stressed how Indian two -wheeled brands dominate the worldwide small -capacity motorcycle segment. He also said that the sector has entered the mid -capacity motorcycle segments.

“This is an emergency and sincere attractiveness to our respected policy makers and the public about the latest GST announcement, Lal Lal said.

Siddhartha Lal said that GST expects access to ‘expansion’ for the sub -category of 350cc, but the rates of higher capacity bikes will damage the edge of the global market.

Lal said that only 1% of people in India have a motorcycle over 350 cc segment.

The President also said that India is leading the two -wheel market segment compared to China, Japan, Europe and the US, and potentially moving to a uniform GST regime would strengthen the power of this leadership.

According to official data, India currently has a four -layer system for GST rates, after 12%, 18%, 18%and 28%.
