Giants tight end Theo Johnson hit Elliss in the face, leading to a brief confrontation between the players. Giants center John Michael Schmitz Jr. also got involved in the conflict.

NFL officials threw penalty flags during the melee. Johnson was punished for unnecessary harshness. Ellis eschewed any discipline for the hit. The penalty took the Giants back 15 yards and ultimately broke the team’s momentum.

“I’m still getting used to this game,” Dart said. “I’m getting used to that level of speed. You can watch my tape in college, I skated very rarely. But it’s a different beast. So for me, when I’m in the open field, obviously I have to be a little bit more responsible. But honestly, I felt like I was getting better at it every week.”
