Gujarat industry growth needs 30 lakh skilled hands, says Labour and Employment Department Secy

“Gujarat is facing a shortage of 30 lakh skilled manpower. We are working to provide skilled workers in the coming days,” he said.
He explained that manufacturing, service and other sectors need educated workers and that the ministry organizes training programs to meet these needs. “We are preparing skilled manpower as per the needs of various industries in Gujarat,” he said.
Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya also spoke at the event at the opening ceremony of the Western Zone competition. Speaking at the event, Gujarat Chief Minister said that the competition is linked to the workforce planning of the country.
“This is not just a competition. The foundations of future India are being laid here,” he said. He noted that Gujarat has a large industrial base and requires trained workforce in various professions. “We prepare manpower according to the needs of the sectors. Today’s greatest asset is skill,” he said.
He said the event is more than a competition because it helps shape the future of the country. He noted that there are many factories and businesses in Gujarat that need certain types of workers.
He also stated that skill development courses are being offered at ITIs across the state and efforts are on to encourage youth to join these programmes.
He said platforms like India Skills Challenge help participants test their skills and understand industry standards. He added that Gujarat is focusing on preparing the youth keeping in mind the future job requirements.
