Minister Dan Jarvis said Labor needed to listen to the message from voters in the local elections and take action when asked whether his party needed to change.

Asked about Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham’s comments that “Labour needs to change if we are to regain people’s trust”, Mr Jarvis told LBC: “I think the Prime Minister has accepted that the recent election results provide a critique of the Government’s performance.

“So yes, we need to make sure we deliver on the people’s priorities. The Prime Minister is absolutely focused on that.”

“He continues his work.

“My responsibilities relate to national security and I know the Prime Minister takes these matters incredibly seriously.

“I was working with him on national security issues, but the priority needs to be serving the public.

“We need to listen and act on what people have been telling us over the last few weeks.”
