Gunman opens fire at Farooq Abdullah’s convoy in Jammu, leaders escape unharmed

A gunman opened fire on the convoy of National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah as he was returning from a marriage ceremony in Jammu on Sunday, officials said. Both Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, who was traveling with him, escaped unharmed, PTI reported, citing officials. Officials added that the accused, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, tried to shoot at Farooq Abdullah as he was leaving the marriage hall in Jammu. Officials said the attacker was neutralized by two officers of the J&K Police’s security wing, PTI reported.
