Gurram Jashuva’s Ideals Continue to Inspire Generations

Vijayawada: On Sunday, the legendary poet Padma Bhushan Gurram Jashuva described Jashuva as a reformer who uses his pen in order to fight social evils and give sound to the marginals on Sunday. The Minister was the head of the 130th anniversary of Jashuva, organized by the Department of Language and Culture in Vijayawada. Durgush called the poet as a privilege to commemorate and described him as a timeless figure that remained a guiding force of ideals and verses.

The program began the lighting of the lamp and the portrait of ‘Navayuga Kavi Chakravarti’ with flower tribute. Durgesh presented the Gurram Jashuva Awards – 2025 and each. Kanakadurga Prasad Rao, P. Sridhar, Meesala Lakshman, Potluri Harikrishna and K. Guruvamma described the recognition as a greater honor than other state awards.

On this occasion, the minister has published two books – Department Director R. Mallikharjuna Rao and Kala Ratna Dr Palaparthi Sridhar written by Muktamani Padyasatakam – and launched a poster for the planned World Telugu Poems Conference in December.

Durgesh remembered Jashuva’s contributions to Telugu literature and society with works such as Gabbiam, Firdausi, Rukmini Kalyanam, Smashana Vatika and Christu Charitra. Jashuva said that he reshaped Telugu literature and promised to protect his ideals for future generations, taking into account poverty, immunity and caste discrimination.

Tejaswi Podapati, President of the Creative and Cultural Committee, expressed his concern that today’s youth is not greatly aware of Jashuva’s legacy and calls it a writer who believes that poetry can transform society. Gummadi Gopalakrishna, President of the Nataka Academy, praised Jashuva’s ability to connect with ordinary people and praised Durgesh as the boss of art.

In the celebrations, the poet contained songs in the speeches of the awarders during the poetic journey of the tribute and Jashuva. Collector G. Lakshmisha, Culture Department officials, actor Meesala Lakshman, senior poet Potluri Harikrishna, Dr Sridhar, Katti Guruvamma and Dr. Kanakadurga Prasad Rao.
