Trump pulls his own trick-or-treat on costumed kids during annual White House Halloween event

President Donald Trump brought Halloween cheer to children by handing out candy at the White House, repeating a 2019 party trick by patting a child’s head with chocolate.

Trump returned to the White House on Thursday evening just in time from a whirlwind trip to Asia with his wife, Melania, to celebrate the spooky season.

Around 6 p.m., the Trumps emerged from the south entrance of the White House to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” played by a military string ensemble.

The duo delighted the children who lined up in costumes to meet them.

Trump recreated one of his favorite trick-or-treating games from his 2019 Halloween party by hitting a child dressed as a marshmallow on the head with chocolate and placing it on his costume for the child to collect.

Instead, the boy walked away, trying to balance the candy bar on top of his head exactly where Trump had placed it.

Trump went viral in 2019 for playing the same game with a child dressed in a Despicable Me costume.

“This is a powerful grandpa move,” one supporter said Thursday as Trump’s ploy went viral again.

Melania shared her own sweet moment with a little girl who was afraid to approach, so she bent down and opened her arms, bringing the child closer.

As Trump watched, he placed his hand on the little girl’s cheek and rubbed her shoulder reassuringly.

Separately, Trump high-fived a child who appeared to be dressed like him. They were both wearing blue suits, red ties and red MAGA hats.

It turned out that a little girl accompanying the Trump-dressed boy was also dressed as the First Lady. Melania had a white jacket in the tones she liked.

The First Lady was seen leaning in and appeared to compliment the duo’s looks. Trump then told the children to turn and take a photo.

Dozens of carved lanterns filled with lights adorned the mansion’s sprawling staircase with fall leaves, pumpkins and other autumnal items.

The home’s exterior was decorated with fake fallen fall leaves, and Melania wore a beige trench coat with orange accents to celebrate the holiday.

For more than an hour, the president, who had just returned from a five-day trip to Malaysia, Japan and South Korea, dutifully handed out chocolates to children dressed in costumes ranging from astronauts to McDonald’s employees.

Trump, who distributed candy in front of the White House for more than an hour, later told the press that despite his long schedule, he was not done for the day.

The president’s senior staff and their families were first in line to receive treats from the Trumps.

General counsel and deputy chief of staff Steven Miller, his wife, Katie Miller, and their three children were among the first to receive their chocolates.

Miller’s son, dressed as a ghost, appeared unaware that he had lined up to meet the President and First Lady, repeatedly trying to get past them when his father reached out to pull him back into line.

Shortly after, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt followed with her husband and young children dressed as pumpkins.

Music played as the process of children and their guardians made their way to the president and first lady.

The event featured theme songs from Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as some classic renditions.

After handing out candy in front of the White House for more than an hour, Trump told the press that despite his long schedule, he wasn’t done for the day.

Over loud music, the president told reporters he was about to participate in a virtual town hall with some state attorneys general.

A source familiar with the matter later confirmed that Trump would hold another event at 7pm local time, despite having spent most of the last 30 hours awake in Asia ahead of the US.
