Harry Kane injury: England captain to miss Wales friendly

Kane’s injury is not a big problem for Tuchel as the match to be played on Thursday night is a friendly match and there is a high possibility of qualifying for the World Cup.

However, England’s confidence in Kane is obvious. The captain broke the record by scoring 74 goals in 109 matches, while the rest of the current squad scored 53 goals.

Kane has scored 26.4% of all England goals since making his debut in 2015; Raheem Sterling, who last played in the 2022 World Cup, was the only other player to score 20 goals during this period.

The obvious candidate to feature in Tuchel’s squad on Thursday was Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who regularly replaced Kane off the bench at last summer’s Euros and scored a memorable winner against the Netherlands in the semi-final.

Watkins has scored five goals in 19 appearances for England but has scored just once for Villa this season.

Marcus Rashford is another option. The Manchester United striker is on loan at Barcelona and prefers to play on the left wing, but has played many matches in the middle.

He has 18 goals for England; He is the player who scored the most goals in the current squad after Kane.

Anthony Gordon has played a central role at Newcastle and played in that position for the England Under-21 team that won the Euros in 2023, but he has just one goal in 14 appearances.

Outside of Tuchel’s current squad, Ivan Toney played against Senegal in June and is available despite playing in Saudi Arabia. Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke was injured and could only win three matches.

Chelsea signed Liam Delap this summer after an impressive season at Ipswich, but the 22-year-old is leaving the team with a hamstring injury and has not yet been called up to the first team.

The English player who has scored the most goals in the Premier League so far this season has been Burnley winger Jaidon Anthony, who scored four goals.
