HCA Faces Charges In U-19 Team Selection

Hyderabad: Telangana Mining Development Corporation (TMDCL) chairman Anil Kumar Eravathri submitted a petition to Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu alleging irregularities and nepotism in the selection of the Hyderabad Under-19 cricket team for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Confirming receipt of the complaint, the commissioner said the case would be registered after preliminary verification.

In his petition, Anil Kumar accused the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and the Youth Selection Committee of bias by specifically naming selector and coach Sudeep Tyagi from Adnan Cricket Academy. He alleged that several players from Tyagi’s academy have been selected for the state squad, including those who were previously involved in age fraud cases using fake Aadhaar cards.

The complaint also referred to the HCA press release dated November 13, 2024, which listed six Telangana players banned by the BCCI for two years due to age differences. It was claimed that some of these players reappeared in subsequent squads despite the bans.

Anil Kumar also alleged that some Youth Selection Committee members did not meet the eligibility criteria under the HCA constitution. He called on the police to conduct a call data analysis (CDA) to verify possible coordination between Tyagi and academy owner Adnan Bafnan and ensure merit-based selections in future tournaments.
