Differences Between Varma of TD and Jana Sena Reach a Flashpoint in Pithapuram
Kakinada: Differences between the ruling NDA alliance leaders Telugu Desam and Jana Sena in Pithapuram constituency, represented by JS chief and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, have reached an explosive point.
Both the Jana Sena and a few TD cadres in the constituency do not see this as a conflict between the JS and Telugu Desam parties. Leaders observe that former TD MLA SVSN Varma is just suffering from heartburn and this is targeting Jana Sena, which has bagged Pithapuram constituency, which was represented by Varma in the past, in seat sharing during the 2024 elections.
The former TD MLA is said to have wanted to highlight his importance in the constituency represented by the Deputy CM. Therefore, Varma criticizes Jana Sena on one pretext or another, including on occasions when official functions are held.
Moreover, although Varma does not hold an official position, he still wants authorities to recognize him in many matters, including official business. Cadres of alliance parties feel that the former Telugu Desam legislator is fomenting one controversy after another in an attempt to prove his political viability.
Initially, there were differences between Kakinada Lok Sabha member T. Uday Srinivas of Jana Sena and Varma. Uday Srinivas’ followers reportedly pelted stones on the former Telugu Desam MLA’s car. Then the problem was solved. Later, while touring the constituency, Pawan Kalyan invited Varma and praised the former TD MP.
Of late, Varma has been making efforts to attract the attention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Human Resources Minister and TD working president Nara Lokesh. The former TD MLA, in particular, is expressing anger at the officials who are displaying the CM’s photographs on small-sized banners. However, Jana Sena leaders feel that Varma is targeting Jana Sena and its leader Pawan Kalyan on various excuses.
Recently, Pithapuram District Development Authority officials held a meeting. The Telugu Desam legislator again raised the issue of CM’s photo being small. Annoyed by this, former MLA Pendem Dorababu from Jana Sena placed her palms on Varma’s chest and pushed him. This open action shook local TD leaders.
Naidu reportedly expressed anger over Varma’s constant sarcasm in Pithapuram constituency. The former Telugu Desam legislator feels that TD is working hard for the victory of Pawan Kalyan from Pithapuram, how JS leaders can actively undermine the importance of Telugu Desam leaders in the entire Pithapuram constituency.
Meanwhile, Jana Sena leader and MLC Nagababu maintained that the issue will be resolved by the party high command.
