Heartbreaking statement for British couple killed in Lisbon funicular crash | UK | News

The family of a British couple killed in a funicular accident of Lisbon, said in a tribute that they “broken hearts”. Theater director Kayleight Smith and his partner Will Nelson, Manchester’s Arden Theater School, was described as two of the three British who died after the popular tourist attraction center in the center of Portugal on Wednesday night.
The third British victim has not yet been identified. In a statement published through the Cheshire police, Ms. Smith’s family said: “Kayleight was loved by family and friends for her intelligence and humor, and came to the forefront as a funeral operator of gentle and loving nature.
“He was also a talented theater director and completed a master’s degree. Both of them broke the heart of family and friends.”
Mr. Nelson’s younger brother said: “Words can not start to define how our family and friends feel, but here is the best initiative.
“This week, because of a tragic accident in Lisbon, Portugal, we lost Will Nelson, not only my brother, but everyone.
“He was always gentle, selfless and protective, and the world doesn’t feel right or normal without him. He was my hero and always my hero and we will always miss you.
“I love you, the legend of peace in peace.”
A total of 16 people died in the accident. There were also five Portuguese citizens, two Canadians, two South Korean, one American, one French, one Switzerland and a Ukrainian.
21 more people were injured, including five.
Mr. Nelson, Rachel Curry, the director of Ucen Manchester, said, “It inspired thousands of students at the Arden Theater School to maintain their dreams and ambitions.”
“Everyone at the Ucen Manchester and Arden Theater School was shocked and deeply upset to learn Will Nelson and Kayleight Smith’s tragic transition in the Lisbon tram disaster.
“Will inspired thousands of students at the Arden Theater School to follow their dreams and ambitions for seven years.
“Will had an incredible information about his crafts, especially playwrights and theater history, and he was a constant rich source of information for students and colleagues. He was a very positive and determined advocate to improve his student skills and support his colleagues.
“Kayleight was one of our mature students who completed a master’s degree with us in search of a career as an enthusiastic theater director. He was an extremely talented and enthusiastic student in front of him. Kayleight was incredibly hardworking and warm and friendly with his other students and staff.
“Everyone in Ucen Manchester and especially at the Arden Theater School, Will Miss Will in a tremendous way and our thoughts and the deepest condolences Will and Kayleight’s families, their loved and peers.”
No 10 spokesman, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’ın three British citizens of the tragic deaths “deeply upset” confirmed.
“His thoughts are their families and those who were affected by this terrible event.”
“We unite with Portugal at this difficult time.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that three British citizens who lost their lives tragically in the incident provide support to their families.
Gloria Fünikules, a historical transportation system that has been operating for 140 years, were full of passengers when they came out of the rail.
Luis Karadağ, Prime Minister of Portugal, described the incident as “one of the biggest tragedies of our recent past”.
Fünikular, which is a unique railway system type designed to carry people up and down the upright slopes, are common in rugged areas.
Gloria funikules, known for their two separate yellow cars, work between the restaurant square in the center of Lisbon and the Bairro Alto region and each journey takes about three minutes.
This electric system uses steel cables for operation.
The rail led to one of the cars to hit a building on a bend on the road.
