Police raid rave party at homestay in Kaggalipura, over 130 detained

Kaggalipura police raided a homestay where a wild party was taking place in the early hours of Saturday and detained more than 130 revelers who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Some of them were suspected of using drugs.
The operation was carried out at around 03:00 in the morning at Ayaan Retreat Homestay on the outskirts of the city, upon the notice of an illegal party using drugs.
All the detained participants were residents of Bengaluru, police said. They were taken to Ramanagara District Hospital for medical tests.
Probe revealed that the event was organized through a WhatsApp group called ‘Generation Z’. Most of the participants, aged between 19 and 23, were college students and working professionals from Bengaluru. Three of them were minors, police said.
The group would coordinate and inform each other via WhatsApp whenever such parties were planned. Authorities detained the organizers for questioning and further investigation is ongoing.
Srinivas Gowda, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru South District, said, “The homestay in question is being run without any permission and is organizing parties to disturb the residents nearby.” he said.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Kaggalipura police station inspector raided the premises. More than 100 people, including many women and three children, were found partying at the spot,” he said.
Police seized cigarette butts, several grams of marijuana and several liquor bottles, which will be sent for forensic examination.
Action was taken against 4 people who were determined to be the organizers of the event.
