Trump Media and Technology Group lost $406m in first three months of 2026 | Donald Trump

The parent company of Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, one of the President’s preferred communications channels, lost nearly $406 million in the first three months of the year while making just over $870,000 in revenue, according to financial records.

Trump Media and Technology Group‘s quarterly report for the period January to March 2026 showed that although net sales increased by 6% year-on-year, the company incurred large losses related to other investments.

The bulk of the losses were “non-cash losses, which include unrealized losses on digital assets, pledged digital assets and equity securities ($368 million), accrued interest ($11.5 million), and stock-based compensation ($11.8 million).” the company said in a press release..

Trump Media is “using its strong balance sheet and positive operating cash flow to continue to grow all of our businesses and platform infrastructure,” interim CEO Kevin McGurn said in a statement.

McGurn also said, without going into too much detail, that Truth Social “remains a bastion of free expression, with innovative enhancements coming soon.”

Most of the losses stem from $3.5 billion in Bitcoin purchases the company made in 2025, when the cryptocurrency’s value has soared and the company has announced plans to build a “bitcoin treasury.” However, the crypto asset’s value has fallen by nearly a third since then.

The company was founded after Trump’s supporters stormed the US Capitol in 2021 after Trump (now known as X) and Facebook were banned, when the first of Trump’s two presidencies ended in defeat against Joe Biden. While Truth Social effectively served as a megaphone for the president, it did not develop more broadly.

The reported losses come five months after Trump Media announced plans to strike a $6 billion deal with TAE Technologies, a California nuclear fusion company aimed at powering artificial intelligence data centers.

With the long-held goal of producing unlimited energy, nuclear fusion has yet to produce more energy than is needed to create it.

“Even as we seek to advance our proposed merger with TAE Technologies as quickly as possible, we are identifying new growth opportunities and new ways to increase shareholder value,” McGurn said in a statement.
