Heavy rainfall likely in Tirupati, SPSR Nellore districts

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast for SPSR Nellore and Tirupati districts on Monday, November 17, 2025, due to low pressure in southwestern Bay of Bengal. An orange alert has been issued for two districts.
While other places in Prakasam, Annamayya and Chittoor districts may receive heavy rainfall on Monday, November 17, light showers are expected at one or two places in South Coastal AP and Rayalaseema.
Light showers may continue in Rayalaseema and South Coastal AP on Tuesday, November 18, while heavy rains may occur at one or two places in Tirupati, Chittoor and SPSR Nellore districts. North Coast Andhra Pradesh will experience dry weather these two days.
According to the IMD, under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area formed over the southwestern Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka at 8.30 am on Saturday, November 15, and continued over the same region at 8.30 am on Sunday, November 16. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends to an altitude of 5.8 km above mean sea level, bending towards the southwest with height. It will likely move slowly from west to northwest in the next 24 hours, IMD said in its bulletin at 13:00 on Sunday, November 16.
