Hell on Earth: Red Crescent warns Tehran may be submerged by toxic rain that can cause chemical burns to skin and damage lungs after Israel strikes oil facilities

The Iranian Red Crescent has warned that Tehran could soon be flooded with toxic rainwater that could cause chemical burns and damage the lungs after Israel struck oil facilities in the capital.
In a grim report early this morning, a humanitarian group warned people in Tehran they were at risk of chronic lung and skin diseases following last night’s bombardment.
The NGO warned Tehran residents not to leave their homes even after the rain stops, on the grounds that ‘the evaporation of acid droplets from hot ground or surfaces increases the concentration of toxins in the inhaled air several times’.
They also warned citizens to make sure their food is wiped down even if it is closed, as ‘microscopic acidic particles on the container wall can contaminate the contents when opened’.
The Red Crescent society also told citizens to replace their water filtration systems if possible, as toxic water could damage old filters.
Hellish scenes emerged from the bombing campaign against Tehran last night.
Harrowing images showed a massive inferno originating from the Shahran oil depot northwest of Tehran, lighting up an incredibly tall plume of smoke that appeared to consume the night sky.
It seems that a civilian industrial facility was targeted for the first time in the war.
Flames rise at an oil storage facility south of the capital Tehran during attacks on the city during the US-Israeli military operation, Iran, Saturday, March 7, 2026
In this screenshot from a social media video posted on March 8, 2026, fires and smoke rise from the Akdasiye Oil Depot in Tehran, Iran, which was reportedly hit during the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.
It was observed that a fire broke out in the streets of the city because the burning oil mixed with the sewage system and illuminated all the roads.
Residents complained of a persistent burning smell in the air as both the US and Israel redoubled their commitment to fight until the Iranian regime was ‘eliminated’.
Israel attacked today As the war in the Middle East heats up, southern Lebanon has spoken out about oil storage facilities in Beirut and Tehran, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promising ‘many surprises’ for the next phase of the conflict.
Iran also hit the desalination plant in Bahrain. Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the US airstrike damaged Iran’s desalination plant on Qeshm Island, warning that by doing so ‘the US set this precedent, not Iran’. This type of infrastructure is critical to drinking water supplies in the Gulf’s arid deserts.
An Israeli attack on oil storage facilities in Tehran caused pillars of fire to appear in Associated Press video as a shimmering glow across the sky Saturday night. It seems that a civilian industrial facility was targeted for the first time in the war.
In the war that broke out on February 28 after the US-Israel struck Iran, at least 1,230 people have died in the Islamic Republic, more than 300 in Lebanon and about a dozen in Israel, according to officials.
A Pakistani driver was killed when aerial debris fell on a vehicle in Dubai, officials said Sunday. This is the second death of a Pakistani national here in recent days.

Iranian Parliament Speaker says oil prices will increase further as the war continues
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament said today that as long as the war in the Middle East continues, oil prices will continue to rise and this will harm the global economy.
Oil prices have risen since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, reaching their highest levels since 2023.
The barrel price of Brent crude oil rose 8.5 percent to $92.69 on Friday; It was around $70 per barrel at the end of last week. Meanwhile, benchmark US crude oil rose 12.2% to $90.90 per barrel on Friday.
“If the war continues like this, there will be no way to sell oil nor the ability to produce it,” Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf said in a social media post. Referring to the Israeli prime minister, he said that the war affected not only the USA but also the Middle East and the whole world ‘because of Netanyahu’s dreams’.
Iran’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that 200 children and nearly 200 women were killed in US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
They were among the more than 1,200 people killed in the war, spokesman Hossein Kermanpour said in a social media post.
He said more than 1,000 people, including nearly 400 women, have been injured since February 28.
Iran’s president has threatened to increase attacks on American targets in the Middle East as the United States and Israel continue airstrikes.
‘When we are attacked we have no choice but to fight back. The more pressure they put on us, the stronger our reaction will be,” President Masoud Pezeshkian said in his video commentary on Sunday. ‘Our Iran, our country, will not and has never surrendered easily in the face of tyranny, oppression or aggression.’
Pezeshkian appears to have backtracked on his conciliatory comments towards Gulf neighbors on Saturday. These comments, which appeared to apologize for attacks on their territory, were quickly denied by Iranian conservatives.
Pezeshkian said Iran is not seeking war with neighboring Arab countries, many of which host American military bases. Saying ‘They are our brothers’, he accused the USA of trying to set the regional countries against each other. Many of Iran’s attacks go beyond US bases in the region, hitting energy facilities, hotels and cities.
A missile alert was issued in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday morning.

It’s the first time an Arab country says Iran targeted a desalination plant during the nine-day war.
There are hundreds of desalination plants along the Persian Gulf coast, and Arab countries in the region rely heavily on drinking water plants.
The Israeli military said on Sunday that it had shot down a number of warplanes that pre-revolutionary Iran had purchased from the United States.
The F-14 fleet, parked at Isfahan Airport south of Tehran, was the mainstay of Iran’s air force and was historically used to defend airspace.
The Israeli military did not say whether the jets were destroyed. It was also stated that it hit detection and air defense systems.
