Angus Taylor’s One Nationfication of the Liberal Party is Australia’s MAGA moment

Friday, February 13 is a suitable date Angus Taylor roll Susan Ley Because Taylor, as leader of the Liberal Party, represents the outcome of a Trumpist MAGA horror show for Australia’s social cohesion and democratic health.

Taylor is the Liberal Party giving in to its worst instincts. It is the Liberal Party’s One-Nationism, which stems from exactly the same basic instincts, that has dragged the Republican Party into the MAGA nightmare from which America, and by extension the world, is currently suffering.

Liberal Party affiliations Pauline Hanson‘s One Nation is the central question of the latest Libspill. While One Nation is trailing the Coalition in the polls, the problem is not that One Nation is realistic will form the government. The point is that by dumping Ley and electing Taylor, the Liberals and Nationals have made it clear that they are using the MAGA playbook to reassert their political dominance. And this is terrible news for Australia.

Let’s remind ourselves how Donald Trump He came to power (twice) to make sure we knew what was at stake here and what it meant for American society. Trump – Like One Nation – is often wrongly framed as a “populist” who successfully exploited economic anxieties as the savior of the working class, promising to “make America great again” by restoring economic pride among working people. This argument is a load of nonsense.

The truth is that Trump came to power because of racism. study after study it says so. But of course, since racism is not allowed to be talked about because of racism, then America has never had a proper conversation about what the driving forces are behind Trump’s decade-long devastating attack on the American people, including his continued destruction of American democracy.

Let me put it simply. Trump has successfully used White grievances about wealth inequality (structural inequality caused by billionaires, what a coincidence) to opportunistically turn hatred against people of Color, including Black Americans and immigrants.

Let me rephrase this in case it’s unclear. Trump’s supporters are White people who believe him when he says that non-White people are responsible for all of Trump’s problems, and they vote accordingly — for the man who violently deports non-Whites and bans the immigration of non-Whites because it makes White people feel good.

If this isn’t clear, try this. MAGA is the use of hatred, bigotry, racism and discrimination as a political strategy. It exploits fragile White anxiety in the face of the privilege of accumulating political power and the perceived loss of cultural power. This is White supremacy. And if we don’t acknowledge what’s happening here it will tear Australia apart.

The claim that Trump capitalizes on a “populist-anti-establishment” tone while ignoring the obvious role of racism is contradicted by some basic facts. Let’s not forget that this absurd argument is also used to attack the Left, with claims that Trump rose because the Left does not serve working-class interests.

Complete nonsense. If this is true, why aren’t working-class Black people voting for Trump? Don’t their economic concerns count?

Indeed, as I have shown through analysis of exit polls, white working-class voters overwhelmingly vote Democrat unless they are Pentecostals. So it’s clear that Trump’s support is not about economic equality. This is about White, Christian nationalists destroying American democracy to maintain their current White-religious-dominance.

If you don’t want to see the problem of racism right before your eyes, I think you can believe Trump, like Hanson, when he says he cares about the economic privilege of his supporters. But this seems to require some mental gymnastics, because it’s clearly not the concern of Trump, One Nation, or the Liberal Party – a party literally created to destroy working-class power.

Pauline is clear in the polls but can't phone a friend in the AEC

Why else is Trump turning the government over to billionaires? Elon MuskDo you let him go to the service with a chainsaw? Why did he use his big, beautiful bill to give huge tax cuts to billionaires? Trump is the billionaire’s president, and he is given this power by white people’s hatred of non-whites.

This point is very well emphasized Roland Smith inside his book titled: White Fear: How the Browning of America Is Causing Whites to Lose Their Minds..

Smith argues:

‘For two centuries, the deep fear felt by many White people of losing power, of losing economic status, of losing a certain “way of life” has been the driving force behind American politics and culture.’

I couldn’t agree more. And this is also the driving force behind One Nation’s rising poll numbers, and will be the political strategy of Taylor and his supporters – including News Corp – to win back the government.

One Nation’s biggest threat is not winning seats. The devil has been on the shoulders of the Liberal Party for the last 30 years, encouraging it to start a race war to win power. And the Liberal Party has just accepted this dare.

Former Opposition Leader Peter Dutton‘s No campaign It destroyed Indigenous consensus, but it was too MAGA in the 2025 Election. Having learned nothing from this, Taylor will ride the One Nation-anti-immigration train to its depressingly predictable, hateful, socially divisive, morally reprehensible conclusion.

The Liberal Party has a patriarchy problem

When Ley came to power I said that the Liberal Party was in denial about the real cause of its election problems.

I said:

‘The Liberal Party exists to wage fear campaigns and culture wars against progress on behalf of the interests of the rich and powerful… What good would the Liberal Party be if the Liberal Party did not wage this war?’

As it turned out, Sussan Ley was not the face of the race war the Liberals wanted. After that incident, he made a very passionate attempt Terrorist attack on Bondi and I sat on the fence March for Australia. But maybe it wasn’t that much Barnaby Joyce– as it should be, looking more like a deer in the headlights, reading someone else’s script but never quite following the lines.

Senator when James Paterson declared Liberals must change or dieWhat he really meant was that they had to become One Nation or they would never win. It wasn’t about politics (what is politics?), it wasn’t about serving the people (as if), it wasn’t about the interests of the country (yeah, right). Taylor’s rise to power came as the Liberal Party succumbed to its own worst.

This result is a complete tragedy for Australia.
