Two CSIR-NGRI scientists selected as 2024 Telangana Academy of Sciences Fellows

Two scientists from CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) – Labani Ray (senior principal scientist) and HVS Satyanarayana (chief scientist) – have been elected as 2024 Fellows of Telangana Academy of Sciences.

Ms. Ray founded the Center for Geothermal Energy Research (CGER), the country’s only laboratory to measure rock thermal conductivity at high temperatures, enabling more accurate geothermal models of the Indian Lithosphere.

Mr. Satyanarayna established a testing and calibration center for seismic devices and led major 2D/3D projects for resource exploration and played a key role in establishing nationwide seismic networks for earthquake monitoring and hazard assessment, according to a press release.
