High Court orders immediate rectification of all road surface protrusions around Kochi metro pillars

The Kerala High Court has directed the authorities concerned to immediately identify, level and permanently fix the bumps and irregular parts of the entire road surface surrounding the metro pillars in Kochi.

They also need to take effective safety measures, including high-visibility warning signs, reflective road markings, rumble strips and shock-absorbing protective installations around subway pillars such as hazardous locations. The Kochi Corporation, on its part, is required to appoint a technical committee or expert agency to conduct a comprehensive safety audit of all roads along the metro rail corridor and submit a report by June 11, when the court will next hear the case.
