British father, 28, died in front of his partner and four-month-old baby in Dubai when ‘speeding’ jetski crashed into him, inquest hears

The investigation stated that a British father died in a jet ski accident as his partner watched helplessly with her baby in her arms.
28-year-old Ali Watson, her girlfriend Charlotte and their newborn daughter Soulie moved from England to Dubai for a ‘better life’ in September 2020.
The couple was really getting settled in when marketing manager Ali organized them to go on a cruise on December 6, 2020.
But tragically Ali died that day.
The inquest at Exeter Coroner’s Court heard today that the father was hit by someone else while he was riding a jet ski.
The second watercraft was being driven at speed by an instructor with a female passenger; But the coroner was told the woman jumped just minutes before the crash because she was afraid of high speeds.
Ali, from Coventry, was thrown into the air and fell face down into the water.
He died at the scene due to blunt force injuries to his chest.
Ali Watson died in a jet ski accident in Dubai in 2020. His partner Charlotte Lescott watched the tragedy unfold with their daughter Soulie.
The couple moved from England to the United Arab Emirates weeks ago
Charlotte’s last heartbreaking words to her husband were, ‘Take care, I love you.’
Devon assistant coroner Luisa Nicholson said Ali died as a result of an accident. It was heard that he had previous experience of using jet skis and that the ones used that day were rented by the boat tour organizers.
The investigation heard that suspended prison sentences and fines were given to those responsible for the accident.
The family moved to Dubai in September 2020 to have a ‘better quality of life’.
Charlotte, a content creator from Birmingham, said: ‘We got on the boat with a group of friends.
‘He was in the water on his jetski and the instructor collided with him.
‘I was holding the baby on the boat and witnessed this.
‘The last thing I said was ‘stay safe, I love you’.
‘The moment Ali died, my world stopped turning. I couldn’t work. The world around you is still going on.’
The family moved to Dubai for a ‘better quality of life’ and Ali started his own business.
The couple was on a boat trip with friends on December 6, 2020, when Ali was involved in an accident.
Charlotte says she had a hard time moving on with Soulie when she found out their life insurance policy was inactive
Charlotte and Ali met on Depop in 2018 when he messaged her after buying sneakers from her.
The couple agreed and started living together three months later.
It was December 2019 when they found out they were expecting a baby together. The couple was overjoyed and then little Soulie arrived on July 29, 2020.
Due to restrictions in the UK, the family decided to try Dubai in September.
Charlotte said: ‘He wasn’t really happy in the UK. There was no quality of life. We decided to make a life there.
‘It was beautiful. We lived a better quality of life. We can take Soulie swimming. I felt like life was complete.’
But Charlotte’s world came crashing down just a few weeks later.
He said: ‘Even when I saw the accident I didn’t think the worst.
‘I thought your leg was broken. Death does not cross his mind.
‘I knew what you were going to say when you told my friend Char you needed to sit down. I felt like my whole world was collapsing.
‘I remember screaming at the top of my lungs.’
He said he had a hard time moving on with Soulie when he learned his life insurance policies were inactive.
The couple was overjoyed when they found out they were pregnant
Soulie was born in July. His father died a few months later
Now he raises awareness to make others financially aware and to keep Ali’s memory alive.
He said: ‘It had been cancelled. We had too many items in one shipment. Lots of Soulie’s clothes and bed frame.
‘I couldn’t get it to be given to me because it was in Ali’s name.
‘Me and my baby literally had nothing. Life stops when you lose someone unexpectedly. You still have to pay rent, mortgage, and bills.
‘They don’t stop, but you did.’
Now Charlotte is in a better place and has an open conversation with Soulie about her father.
He said: ‘If I didn’t have it I’d be lost. Since he was a newborn, I had to continue. Soulie is very aware of his father. He dreams about her. He has eyes. It is very fragile, sensitive and very gentle.
‘She is such a ray of sunshine. I want to protect him at all costs.’
Charlotte had family and friends to support her when she returned to the UK, but she was sometimes embarrassed to ask for help.
He said: ‘I was embarrassed to ask my family. “Can you help me financially?” I didn’t mean to. You don’t want to think about paying the bills.
‘I didn’t take control of my finances.’
Charlotte now wants to make sure others don’t rely on their partners financially and have life insurance like Mumsurance.
He said: ‘Be aware of this for yourselves. Just don’t trust him.’
